At LMBS we use this term to describe the perfect process; exactly what is needed to get the job done, with no wasted effort, cost or time. There is nothing new about the concept, manufactures have been applying Lean techniques to manufacturing processes for years, and we use it when designing features for The Lean Machine™.
Lean & Mean Business Systems, Inc. began in 2000 by serving the needs of smaller companies who needed the speed and efficiency of a software package that was quick, efficient and flexible at accomplishing the various tasks an ISO 9001:2000 compliant quality system required.
By constantly striving toward a perfect balance of simplicity and robustness, The Lean Machine™ provides its users with what they need to get the job done. The Lean Machine™ uses a modular and flexible software architecture, so that updates and improvements to the software can be quickly designed, tested, and made available to the end user. This allows us to consistently satisfy customers by using their real world needs as a key component of development efforts.
After all, promptly delivering exactly what the customer wants is pretty much the definition of quality, and it describes what The Lean Machine has been doing since it was first released.
