Users can now directly access the Released Documents screen from the log in screen.  This saves users time as TLM doesn’t have to configure everything needed to operate from the main menu.

Also included is a check of the users dashboard for documents they need to read.  A pop up message will appear if newly released documents require their signature, and selected “yes” will take them to the screen where they can read and sign off on those documents.

Watch the short tutorial below to see all these changes in action for revision 505097.

One of our customers sent us a spreadsheet they had been using in their manual quality system in hopes that our software could produce a similar report, as their management was expecting something like this during management review meetings.   Of course the built in reporting didn’t quite have what they needed, but then isn’t that usually the case?  A year after your software purchase you finally get around to implementing and thinking about your reporting needs, and only then do your realize your six figure investment comes up a little short for what you really need it to do.

We liked the layout and simplicity of the reporting and decided to include a similar report in our next update.

Of course the new report in TLM goes one step further and creates navigation links to the inspection records that resulted in the rejected lots so your can drill down to the individual reporting details from a given report.

We even color coded the output based on the Yield Expectation you configure for the individual vendor so it is easy to see where the problems are.

We caught up with Mike Micklewright last week and heard him talk about the benefits of training your auditors to look for waste.

Brilliant idea!  Although we remember reading it in his book, Lean ISO 9001, it just now occurred to us that The Lean Machine should be supporting this practice in the audit module.

It was a pretty easy addition and the video below will walk you through were everything is and how to get to the Waste Alert reports.

This video will answer the most important question of your purchasing decision.

The Lean Machine can now integrate with a user’s Active Direcory credentials and bypass the TLM Login screen.

The Tools screen now has a couple new options for the management rep to release documents in a batch.  This was developed for a company who needed to migrate a lot of existing documents that had already been reviewed and approved in their paper based quality management system, but needed to be in The Lean Machine for an upcoming audit that was only weeks away.

With these tools the management rep can move all draft documents into the approval stage, then with a single signature release all of the documents that have been submitted for approval.  Any documents that have comments will need to be release manually, as the comment will need to be reviewed to determine if it will have an impact on the decision to release that document.

This feature allowed them to get all their documents released in The Lean Machine in time for their audit, which they passed with flying colors giving the Quality Manager that “hero of the day” experience at work.

You can now use the first text field on the Stratetic Planning module to display your company’s quality policy on the main menu.  Many of our users simply put the ISO auditor in front of The Lean Machine when conducting audits.

You should see their faces when they log in and see the quality policy being displayed right there on the main menu…they love it!   (it’s just human nature, making a good first impression with your ISO auditor helps.)

You will now see a new “Notices” line on most screens that is designed to help the user quickly orientate themselves to the relationship this record might have with other records in The Lean Machine.
