Important Installation notes for the Demo version
MS Access
2000/97 users.
After you open The Lean
Machine, Windows will think you are now using Access
2002 and your desktop shortcuts will open your existing
databases using the Access Runtime engine installed with
The Lean Machine. To open you databases normally,
first open your current version of MS Access and then
open one of your existing Access files. Your
desktop shortcuts will now also open existing databases
with your current version of Access.
The following command
line is used in the "Target" setting to open The Lean
Machine. (Right click your desktop shortcut and
select Properties)
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Access
Runtime\Office10\MSACCESS.EXE" /Runtime
"C:\Program Files\TheLeanMachine\Application\TheLeanMachine.mde"
/WrkGrp
"C:\Program Files\TheLeanMachine\References\Security.mdw"
You can also use this
same method in your existing shortcuts to open your
existing database files so that they are opened with
your current version of Access. Copy and past the
command line above into your existing shortcut and make
the changes below to target the correct files on your
computer.
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Access
Runtime\Office10\MSACCESS.EXE"
Change
or verify this path will target the MSACCESS.exe file on
your machine. Look in "C:\Program Files\MicrosoftOffice\Office\MSACCESS.exe"
"C:\Program Files\TheLeanMachine\Application\TheLeanMachine.mde"
- This should be the path to the existing
Access application you want to open, probably a .mdb
file.
/WrkGrp
"C:\Program Files\TheLeanMachine\References\Security.mdw"
- If you need to
target a specific .mdw file to gain access to your
database, use this section to target that file. Make
sure you include the /Wrkgrp before the path.
NORTON
ANTIVIRUS
(NAV) users. - Disable Script Blocking
Norton Antivirus has a
feature called script blocking that will prevent The
Lean Machine from opening and working with documents
correctly. It simply needs to be disabled when you are
using The Lean Machine.
This has been an issue
between Microsoft and Norton for years. McAfee
products don't have this problem and this is not a
problem with the corporate edition of NAV.
